I began to collect material about the Bulgarian Army structure in 1989. The information I collected from various sites and blogs until now can be found at [[:en:User:Noclador/sandbox/Bulgaria]]. In the end this article should be as detailed and complete as the article [[:en:Czechoslovak People's Army]]. However I am unable to find more detailed information and I am also short of reliable sources, both of which are needed before the article can be completed and then be posted to [[:en:Structure of the Bulgarian Army in 1989]]. If anyone reading this has information about the Bulgarian Army in 1989, please either write me at my [[:en:User talk:Noclador]] page or insert your information at [[:en:User:Noclador/sandbox/Bulgaria]]. : Really, really hard, if not actually impossible, to be acomplished. I have actually tried to comply such an orbat, which to be similar to the DIE KRIEGSSTRUKTUR on the NVA Forum. I have even turned myself to former army officers, I have shown them the East German orbat. Their reaction was "Yes, that is really amazing, really fascinating and detailed. Unfortunately what you're looking for is nowhere to be found in one sistematic source." After that I have given up. We only have the basics. Main forces include 8 motorised rifle diisions and 5 tank brigades, grouped in the 1st (Sofia), 2nd (Plovdiv) and 3rd (Sliven) Army. 1st included 2 MRDs and 9th Tank Brigade, 3rd included 3 MRDs and 2 tank brigades. 2nd also included 3 MRDs and 2 tank brigades, it was planned to reinforce 1st and 3rd Armies and was at a lower readiness than the other two. Each had its own missile brigade (46th, 56th and 66th respectively), its own army artillery regiment, its own air defence regiment, its own engineer regiment etc. I repeat that it is really, really hard to sistemize such a database.
