| Описание |
English: Biogeography of the Crocodylia. Number in brackets refer to number of species. After Alderton (1991),[1] modified according to range data from IUCN Red List. Note that Tomistoma schlegelii, the “false gharial”, is traditionally included in the Crocodylidae whereas new molecular data suggest an assignment to the Gavialidae. Hence, its spatial range is indicated in red as is that of Gavialis gangeticus.
Deutsch: Biogeographie der Crocodylia. Die Zahlen in den Klammern beziehen sich auf die Anzahl der Arten. Nach Alderton (1991),[1] geändert nach Verbreitungsdaten der IUCN Red List. Man beachte, dass Tomistoma schlegelii, der Sundagavial oder Falsche Gavial, traditionell den Cocodylidae zugeordnet wird. Neuere Erkenntnisse aus der Molekulargenetik legen jedoch eine Zuordnung zu den Gavialidae nahe. Sein Verbreitungsgebiet ist daher rot markiert, genau wie das von Gavialis gangeticus.
